Honeymoons in Switzerland
Your honeymoon in Switzerland is a chance to experience stunning alpine landscapes, picture-perfect towns and cultured cities. Switzerland is a linguistic blend of French, German and Italian, and all these influences combine to create a strong Swiss national identity. Famously neutral in international affairs, Switzerland is a tranquil haven perfect for a romantic honeymoon.
Zurich is a famously creative city particularly known for its superb art galleries. The Limmat river runs through the city, which is set on the edge of Lake Zurich, ideal for picnics, swimming or sunbathing. The lovely old town is a collection of houses from the 16th and 17th centuries and everywhere you look there are fountains - over a thousand in all.
Geneva is a pristine international city spreading along the shore of Lake Geneva. There is plenty of fascinating architecture, particularly from the Gothic and Romanesque periods, and many museums showcasing Swiss art, history and culture. Geneva also has a lively entertainment scene which you are sure to enjoy.
Also on the shore of Lake Geneva is the 11th century Château de Chillon. This imposing fortress includes a tower, dungeons and courtyards and is a very popular day trip. For many more Swiss castles, head to the Bernese Oberland region in the center of the country.
Switzerland's Alps offer almost year-round skiing and mountaineering. They also present you with unforgettably magical views. Typical wooden houses, tiny villages, lakes and meadows abound, with towering mountains dominating the skyline. The Jungfrau region is superb, and the mountain towns of Zermatt and Lucerne are also excellent.
This is a country famous for its cheese, its chocolate and its mountains. Switzerland certainly does offer all this and much more - it is a romantic and unforgettable place to spend your honeymoon.
