Honeymoons in Spain

A spirited, vivacious country of flamenco music, superb cuisine, hot summers and diverse art and architecture - to mention just a few of its assets - Spain is a great honeymoon destination. The Spanish people are full of life and the country is packed with history and culture.

Barcelona is the epitome of sophistication and romance, with elegant and extravagantly designed buildings, superb museums and a vibrant nightlife. There are many prestigious art galleries to visit in the city, alongside a gothic cathedral and many lively markets.

Madrid rivals Barcelona for culture and nightlife, and also claims the largest bullring in the world. The elaborate cathedrals and palaces in the city have to be seen to be believed, and, as befitting a capital city, the shopping and dining possibilities are endless.

Spain's third city is Valencia, whose highlight is a lovely Baroque palace. Valencia is also home to two world-class art museums, and you can climb to the top of the cathedral tower for a panoramic view of the city.

Spain has a long coastline with many superb beaches, but the country is much more than sun and sand. Stunning Toledo is a virtually intact medieval city, and Granada's awe-inspiring Alahambra dates from the period of Islamic rule in Spain. It consists of an 11th century fortress, two palaces, patios and gardens - all with a mountainous backdrop. Seville is an exciting combination of the old and the new, with the magnificent Alcazar palace, an awesome cathedral and verdant parks and gardens. Bullfighting, a highly popular sport in Spain, is frequent in the city.

The four Balearic Islands off the eastern coast of Spain offer a pulsating nightlife every summer, but also have year-round quieter attractions - gothic cathedrals, fruit orchards, olive groves, ancient ruins and picturesque villages.

The landscape of Spain includes five major mountain ranges, wetlands, plains and the Andalusian deserts. The countryside is populated with traditional villages where you can catch a glimpse of typical Spanish life. A honeymoon is Spain is your opportunity to discover this diverse and enthralling country.
