Honeymoons in Costa Rica

A peaceful and verdant oasis, Costa Rica is the perfect choice for your honeymoon if you would like to spend your time relaxing in beautiful surroundings. With several national parks and a stunning coastline, Costa Rica hosts countless natural attractions.

The capital, San José, enjoys a fine climate and is home to many impressive museums, where you can discover the archaeology, sculpture, art and history of Costa Rica. The superb late 19th century National Theater is the best place to see a performance - theater, ballet, opera or perhaps the National Symphony Orchestra. Another feature of San José is its colorful markets, ideal for buying souvenirs of your honeymoon.

Costa Rica's Pacific coast offers everything from deserted beaches to luxury resorts and busy ports. Swimming and surfing are popular at many beaches, as is simply relaxing on the warm white sands. Tropical rain forest provides the backdrop to the lovely coastline, and there are scores of tranquil islands just off the coast. The port of Golfito is a good base from which to explore this region.

On the Osa Peninsula you will find the coastal national park of Corcovado, whose most impressive sight is a massive colony of scarlet macaws.

The best developed and most historic national park in Costa Rica is Santa Rosa, in the north west. It contains the largest section of tropical dry forest that remains in Central America, and is an important nesting place for rare sea turtles. Also in the north west is the Volcan Arenal national park, whose dramatic central volcano offers spectacular views, particularly at night.

Conservation is taken very seriously in Costa Rica, and during your honeymoon here, you will see that the tropical wildlife is highly respected and carefully preserved. This is just another reason to spend your honeymoon in beautiful Costa Rica.
